We have no User Manual with this clock.
Can anyone therefore please tell me:
1. what is the function of the small up and down 'slider' on the clockface by the figure '9'.?
2. Where can we obtain a User Manual for this clock?

the small lever is to turn the chimes on and off
up is off and down is on.
also as for instructions, type into google settings up mantle clock ebay guide.
the guide isnt for your precise clock but might help

and as for speeding up and slowing down the pendulium
turn it left to slow down the clock and right to speed it up.

You have got a valuable Westminster chiming clock,
chimes every quarter of the hour then strikes on the Hr.
The purpose of the lever is to SILENT the chimes(why) some people are light sleepers and the chimes can disturb there sleep .
on my clock lever up chimes WORK
lever down SILENCE
I HAVE 4 STRIKING CLOCKS
2 WEST MINISTERS 2 WALL CLOCKS
