leaking overflow?

water is coming out of the overflow
Sue Tunstall, November 2009
It will be from a toilet cistern or from a tank in the loft.

The cause will probably a badly adjusted float (not deep enough into the water) or a perished rubber in the inlet valve.

It is easier to check the toilets first although most modern cisterns overflow into the WC pan rather than outside.

Many houses have two loft tanks - a small one for the central heating and a larger one to supply a hot water cylinder.

If water is leaking out of the overflow you will need to replace the ballcock and valve that shuts the supply of sometimes bending the arm with the ballcock does the trick you need to bend it slightly to lower the ball further in the water if that dosent do it replace the valve and ballcock only about £8 from b&q
