Eurovox ex5100 pvr problem?

i tried to download the program for the Ex5100 PVR from the 4shared.com website and when i press download it asks for a com port, only com port 3 will work no matter which port i put the usb connecter into, after that when i press start it says 'waiting from response from your receiver' and I waited for an hour and it freeze. Could somebody please help me. i have spend loads of money from buying cables to make this work

you must have the eurovox on standby when your flashing it , thats how it shouls be done , but i think your problem i is like i said , no driver for the usb converter lead , you dont need to buy anything more for this job, i have flashed many models of digivox eurovox, ect , and had the same problem that you have , (waiting for response) and it was fixed when i got the drivers, check out the link i gave you for the drivers , and dont go getting a pci card, there are drivers out there for that cable for vista ,

Hi Mick

The problem am having at moment is the firmware cannot detect the receiver. when i glick on dnld it keeps flashing comp 1,2,3 and then message come up "waiting respond from receiver" and nothing cropped up. Some forum posts are saying tht it might be with vista/ or i need to buy a pci card. But i only have a laptop n wont risk of connecting a pci card slot into it. any suggestions will be welcome. thanks

if you check the back of your labtop, and look for a (RS 232) port on it , it will look the very same as the one on the back of the eurovox , 9 pin" if you have one of them , you just need a nullcable to link them up , the labtop is fine for this job i use them all the time , because i have a old one with the port, now as i said your only problem is no drivers, for your cable . try this , go to www.digitalkaos.co.uk on their home page click on (forum) go down the left hand list to , (eurovox) click on it ..see number 3 in red print" (GUIDE cables required for flashing a eurovox) click on it , now read that page , see the (blue) click here" for the drivers , try that down load the drivers for the system you have xp / vista/ ect . rebooth the pc after you have downloaded , see how you get on , mick

thanks for your constructive comments. I bought the usb cable converter from maplin + null modem cable. I am afraid i didn't get the driver disk? Any idead where i could get them. Also am using a laptop. do you think laptop might be problematic?

the problem is , that your pc, dose not know that your (usb converter ) is linked up to the pc, thats why it is saying (waiting for response) because your pc has no drivers" for that cable link" did you get a driver disk with that usb converter cable ? the best way to do a frimwear update" is to use a pc/labtop, that has the (rs232) port on it , older pc, have them , then all you need is a nullcable , or you can try download the drivers for the usb converter cable that you have from www.digitalkaoas.com . or www.afterdawn.com . it will not work for you unless you get the driver for that cable your useing , because it dont know that the cable is there"
