I have the same problem on my F990 deck. It's a mechanical door, but the button cannot be depressed at all. I have been unable to find a way to open the door to get at the mechanism. Help!

A common problem with aiwa is that the drive belts stretch causing the door to stick. if you can open the unit and rotate the pulley wheels by hand, (with no power on) then switch it on and see if it opens.
