Approx 5 yrs old, and has developed a load judder noise when the motor thing switches off (ie. every hour).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and also an indication of whether it will be expensive to fix or are we better replacing...

hi i had the same prob with mine,the noise was awful, called out repair man n he took out all the freezer drawers and unscrewed back pannel ( inside) and where the fan is there was a massiff ice build up, he switched off electricity to fridge and melted it with a hairdryer, done in 5 mins and prob solved, its very common 4 this to happen and over 5 years has happened about 10 times 4 me, hope this solves your problem .......
