Pioneer PDP-503HDE Media box intermitant fault?

Media box fails after functioning with no problem. Then box goes into standby and plasma displays error message E-01. Disconnection of the mains for a period clears the fault. This fault can then dissappear for weeks or happen repeatedly in one evening. Suggests a dry joint in the psu unit(s)? If so how do I find it?

Yes, correct, it is a dry joint in the PSU board. If you take the box apart, you will see two circuit boards, one small one where the power lead plugs in and another on where the front on/off switch connects. Take these out, then heat every solder joint until molten, then leave to cool. This should fix it. Mine did reappear a couple of times, so did it again and touch wood, I think I've got it now. Give it a go.
