How can I fix the row counter on Brother KH860?

The row counter was working fine when I got the machine. Now the little pendulum gets stuck and won't drop down like it used to. What did I do? Can I fix it myself? There's no repair shop around.

Hi Wanda,

It sounds as though a spring has come off inside the row counter.
If you undo the screw that holds the pendulum in place and the two screws on the base of the row counter, you will be able to slide the works out of the case. At the right hand side there are two lugs; they should have a small spring attached to them - this is what makes the pendulum return to the down position.
