32" Hitachi- Tv turns on, sound works well, but screen looks smokey?

I have a 1995 Hitacchi 32 inch tv. It turns on, there are lines as it warms up, but soon they dissapear, but the screen stays smokey looking. Kinda dark and not as clear as i would like. I tried adjusting the settings, but it only helps so much, still looks smokey. The picture stays stable and does not wobble or distort other than the, well, smokey color. The sound works fine. Also, I tried plugging in the dvd player, which plays, but it also shows up smokey. The text and images on the menu screen show up fine, theyre clear and the correct color. Does anybody know what might cause a tv screen to look foggy and smokey? Thanks a bunch.

Resolder dry joints to the low voltage regulators.
Probably near the centre of the pcb. (depends on model).
