No heating, but hot water. Boiler tells me there is ' NO demand for heat'?

I have a Vaillant ECOtec plus combination boiler.
I rang Vaillant and they asked me to make various checks. They concluded that the thermostat was not communicating with the boiler and would need to be replaced.

My boiler man says it would be easier to have a dial thermostat, but I would like to have a programmable one.

In the meantime, is there a way to tell the boiler to put the central heating on? ( Yes, I am a woman!)

Opps sorry. No need for the hot water stat as you have a combi.

Nothing wrong with programmable room stats, but remember they only work on the heating side and not hot water. You will need to install a seperate stat for the hot water control. Honeywell make a wireless room stat CM67 which is excellent and more efficient than conventioal rotary type.

My room thermostat is a dial - we programme it by turning it to the heat setting we want - mine stopped working after building work in the hall - full of dust and grit - I took it off the wall and cleaned it up and it worked - it's just a heat operated switch that opens when the set temperature is reached. You might wish to do this. Failing that, if you have a simple room stat - you might make a very temporary repair with a simple light switch - you will have no CH temperature control though other than flipping the light switch on and off - a Bang-Bang ststem of control - not very efficient.

Take care...

Your gender is of no consequence to your central heating controls.
