Ford Focus glow plugs?

I have a Focus TDCI 04 Plate. when i turn ignition on the glow plug light comes on but only for about 1 to 2 seconds, now this is ok in warm weather as it starts first time but this morning it was very chilly and it was a struggle to start. Ive changed the glow plug relay and it made no difference at all to the length of time that the glow plug light stays on or to the ease of starting. "Do faulty glow plugs affect the length of time that the light stays on for..????" & have i got to fork out for a set of new glow plugs..??? please help

even though warning light goes out, there is still power to heater plugs for a short while [depends upon air temp] i suspect that your heater plugs are at fault, you need to make sure there is a feed to heaters when ignition turned on initially -you could check which are at fault by removing electrical connections on heaters and check there is continuity through each in turn, the ones with none = u/s
