How do I fix my Kenmore Series 90 Top Load Washing Machine?

I have a Kenmore Series 90 top load washing machine that only works properly when the agitator knob is set to Heavy Duty. When it is set for delicate or regular, the switch clicks on and off continuously, making a rather loud clicking noise. My guess is it is in the motor switch, but I can't be sure. What, in your experience, would cause this problem, and, is it easily fixable? Spin, rinse, and draining cycles all seem to work properly.

check your speed select switch and ensure that knob is properly seated on detent (ex. fast/fast, fast/slow...etc) if knob is set inbetween fast/fast, and fast/slow for example it will start making a loud clicking sound. Check wire harness of speed select switch, timer and motor for a secure fit and signs of arcing (poor connection). If this does not work then you might want to have a service tech check it out.
