Boiler pressure keeps increasing?

Hello,

I have a Worcester Heatslave 15/19. When the central heating is switched on, the pressure rises.. I saw ~2.5bar yesterday. When I switch it off, the pressure eventually drops to ~0bar.

Its my guess that for some reason, the pressure is getting too high, so the pressure relief valve starts working and starts to empty the system. I'm on my 3rd pressure relief valve and second pressure guage... the problem has not gone away. Our boiler man has pumped up something with a bike pump within the last week. I have refilled the system and bled radiators, but this hasn't solved the problem, it just happens all over again... ahhh!!!!

Please can anyone help? Does anyone have an idea as to what is going on?!

Thanks.

Thanks b and Daz!

According to our boiler men, the expansion vessel is fine. The first boiler man came over 2 weeks ago and pumped it up, and changed the presure release valve. May be he didn't use a bike pump, I can't remember what they look like, I've not seen one for years!! [He also changed the solanoid as the boiler kept cutting out.] The second boiler man tested it on Friday, and said it was fine. I didn't see any water came out.

From what I can see, the boiler pressure is still climbing, then releasing water at 2.5 bar. When cool, it settles down near 0bar. Is this defo a new expansion vessel requirement? I'll suggest it to our latest Boiler man and see what he says... thanks.

your expansion vessel requires replacing, note you can't pump them up with a bike pump!!!

it sounds like the expansion vessel needs checking
