Hotpoint WD860P Trips Mains?

Hi,

My unit is around 5 years old and has had the usual issues with the dryer tripping the mains which is relatively simple to sort.

The current issue is that immediately I switch the unit on at the wall it trips the mains. I have disconnected the dryer and water heater elements but that makes no difference.

If I remove the lower plastic cover on the rear, there is a flash below the Kabil circuit as the mains trips. Any ideas?

Thank you in advance.

Kris, Would suggest you look at your water heater element. If you are going to DIY, remove plug from wall, remove the rear cover then disconnect the heater power supply and insulate. Let the machine run a cycle and see if it trips. If it doesn't, you have found your problem.

As always, be very careful with electricity!
