I had exactly the same problem as all the above. Phoned Samsung and within 48hrs I'd had the call, the engineer out and all back to normal free of charge. Thankyou Samsung. Amazing service!

Attention all Samsung Clickers!

The web has a lot of disgruntled Samsung owners out there, so you are not alone. The main problem behind the "clicking" from standby problem seems to stem (largely) from faulty capacitors on the main power board inside the t.v. There are one or two other more rare causes but most (including mine) have their root in the p.s.u . It appears to be a relatively straightforwrd repair involving the replacement of the capacitors or the whole power board itself.

I would strongly reccomend that you call samsung with all the details you have left from the original purchase, (date of purchase etc) though most of the important info is on the t.v itself (model number-serial no etc), don't be put off if you can't find receipts etc, they are'nt vital.

Until fairly recently samsung were dealing with customers on a case by case basis (with most having to pay something), but now appear to be offering free replacement of the faulty power boards as a "goodwill gesture", so I was told.

I called them this morning (explaining that i was aware of many other folks with the same issue), prepared for a long battle steadily climbing up the responsibility ladder until I found someone with a) knowledge and b) the power to do something, but was pleasantly surprised to be told that they would send an engineer within 3 days! (following a call to make sure i was in) The T.v is 23 months old (way past its 12 month warranty), but I expect to get at least 4-5 years out of such an investment. Anyway, the call lasted about 8 mins and everything went fairly smoothly with no payment needed.

Don't try any repairs yourself (unless confident), don't pay anything (this must be the last resort-local firms will usually take the p***) but do call samsung.
Hope this helps, but just google samsung clicking for more info.
