If it isn't the belt and you can turn the drum by hand, then the motor probably needs inspection. At the back of the motor can you see lots of black dust or burn marks? if so, the brushes need replacing. Cost around £15 a set.

Have you checked to see if the drive belt has not come off or snapped.
You will have to remove the back of the machine to check this.
