The lockout light is on and the heating won't turn on, PLEASE HELP?

We have a Potterson Combi 80 boiler, and the lockout light has come on, and the central heating will now not come on. The boiler does not sound good as it sounds like a dishwasher!

Can anyone tell me what the lockout light means? Why we have no heating? And what we can do to fix this?

Thankyou

check the pressure first, there's a gauge on the underside on the right. pressure should be between 1 & 2. if that's ok and the boiler actually fires up, even if it's only briefly then the pump probably needs replaced. the boiler can lockout for many reasons, but usually overheating (or ignition faults if it's the version without the pilot)
