The Circuit Board has to be replaced in my Tricity Bendix AW1001 ?

I purchased a Tricity Bendix washing machine in Aug 2007. I use the machine on average once a week 3-4 washes. The machine stopped working in April 09 after just 20 months use. A washing machine mechanic called to see the machine (call-out fee €84.00) The mechanic told me that the machine needed a circuit board and a pump - these parts were duly replaced. The machine stopped again on November 23rd 2009 (7 months later), according to the engineer who called to see it, the circuit board needs replacing again. What is wrong with this washing machine why does the PCB need replaced so soon again?

Hi Peccavi and Ck, many thanks for your prompt replies, unfortunately I can't give you much more information about the fault as I simply put clothing in the washing machine, selected the wash cycle and pressed the start button, within seconds the green light went from start to end on the front display panel and that was it!

Who can say what is wrong with your machine? You just say it stopped working and give no further information about the fault(s).

The change of the pump and the circuit board at the same time may be legitimate - the pump may have failed and just might have damaged the circuit board but I doubt it - when an appliance fails it's usually just down to one broken part rather than two.

It may be that with the second fault the circuit board (pcb) really is faulty but without any details nobody here can say one way or another - either you trust the engineer or you do not...

A new circuit board might fail in one or two days so your 7 months is neither here nor there. I have never had to have a circuit board replaced in any washing machine I have owned since 1968 - you may just be unlucky.

If I were you I might think about another service supplier and do not be frightened to ask about the fault finding process - the evidence and their conclusion - challenge them (gently) to demonstarate the logic of their diagnosis - it is after all - your money.

Good luck...

If something on this machine goes wrong such as a pump/motor/door lock it tends to blow the pcb at the same time hence the board needs replacing. What is the fault you have at the moment.explain whats happening or not as the case may be and I will have a think as too what might be the problem.
