Oh, I forgot to add (continued from the post below) to the right of the 'lid' there is a small round button. You must press this before you can slide it left...

CAN I ADD TO THIS TO HELP IT MAKE SENSE?
-I've just taken mine apart, successfully... Look down on the machine with the screen facing away from you. The SILVER 'lid' - with all the tiny holes in - at the very top of the back portion of the Vaio. Slide this LEFT and it will lift off - you will then be able to see the connectors & the Two Black scews mentionned above. James, Uchooze.com

YES NO PROBLEM.START BY REMOVING THE TWO BLACK SCREWS THAT ARE TUCKED BETWEEN THE SCREEN RECESSED DOWN IN THE SMALL PLASTIC SHOULDER COVERING THE METAL HINGE.AFTER YOU HAVE REMOVED THE COVER IT WILL EXPOSE 4 GOLD COLOURED SCREWS DEEP DOWN BETWEEN THE TWO UNITS.UNPLUG ALL RESPECTIVE HARNESSES AND USING A LONG PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVER UNSCREW THE 4 SCREWS.GIVING A SMALL WIGGLE RELEASE SCREEN AND INTEGRAL KEYBOARD FROM MAIN BODY.THIS WILL NOW EXPOSE RELEVANT SCREWS TO OPEN THE REST OF THE CASE.P.S DO NOT FORGET THE 2 SCREWS HIDDEN BEHIND RUBBER GROMETS TO THE REAR OF THE MAIN CASE.
