How do I replace a lower door seal for an Asko 1606 dishwasher. ?

I have bought the rubber seal but have not been able to instal it even after pulling apart the door. I haven't been able to get the rubber seal to hook/latch onto the steel edge at the bottom of the dishwasher door. The old seal seemed fused to the bottom of the door and was extremely difficult to remove. I had to pull apart the door lining from the outer shell to remove it. It appears as though the seal has hooked edging that can dovetail into the bottom lip of the door - but it doesn't fit into it or stay fixed. Do I need to open the bottom lip, press in the rubber seal and compress the lip again to hold the seal ? Or do I just add some sort of adhesive to hold it in place ? Remember, the old seal was fused to the bottom lip of the door. Thought this job was too easy to call the Asko repair-man.
