can i repair a diverter valve for a protherm 80e?

im not getting any heating only hot water and was told i need a new diverter valve as it cannot be mended.ive descaled it and put it back on with no joy.if they cannot be mended,how come i can pick one up that is a reconditioned part?
a new one is over £100 and recon is £70.
so was wonering what i could do to recondition it as i cant afford either at the moment.
can i buy a kit to replace any parts in it?

you dont need a new diverter that the good news, you will always get heating but lack of h/w or no h/w if your diverter was at fault. heating faults are usually room thermostats or timers failing
