I have a techwood twp4210 and I purchased it around 4years ago. Ive got my sky+ linked to it. I tried to turn on and the screen remains black but we can hear the sound for the channel it is on through the speakers attached to the av unit. The power light is red (when off), as normal and changes to green when switched on, as normal. If I press any of the controls on the remote, no screen prompts show - i.e. when I press the 'source' button, it does not show any scart search notifications (usually on bottom right hand of screen). (or if I press the screen settings button, no screen options show) This leads me to believe that this is not a 'communication' problem from the av unit but a problem with the screen itself. Ive tried having power off overnight to 'cool' the screen, but still no joy!! I was under the impression that when screens do eventually 'go', that they deteriorated gradually and didnt just 'die' however I think it has done just that. Any advice out there from someone who knows a little more about this than me???

It appears we have the same problem with our techwood twp4210 tv's... strangely enough (mine has been out of action for a few months now, but) it seems mine lasted roughly the same amount of time that yours did, bought it for the world cup 2006... for the last 6mnths/year it has been sat in my hallway of my flat getting in my way, a great lump of metal, gathering dust......while I decide if I have just a large junk item to dispose of or a fixable tv.
I was looking for some hint of an answer on the net when I stumbled upon your question, lol, at last a hint of heading in the right direction I hope, as your fault seems just the same as mine...was just fine n dandy the night before, then, got up next morning, and the screen was dark, still see a slight picture behind the extremely dark pixlated screen, and, like yours, the sound is fine.
I was wondering if you had gotten anywhere with getting yours repaired?
Expensive for a disposable item isn't it?
