my needle bar drive screw is loose?

the little collar that sets my timing on my needle bar has come loose. I have tryed for three hours to set it but i cant get it right. My husband says its all a matter of timing between the needle bar and the hook. Can you help me. Its a Janome 4000.

Hello Shirley,
Once the needle bar has been altered it will mean fiddling about until you get it right, take the needle plate off and take the bobbin case out so you can see the point of the hook, turn the balance wheel until the needle goes all the way down and then starts to go up, if the needle bar is loose lower it down if you have to so it meets the point of the hook then tighten the screw, test sew, if it does not sew you will have to alter the needle bar slightly up or down until you get it right.
