closed couple cistern?

how do you take the top off the cistern?? Its got the buttons and I don't know how to get them off to take the top off. I have a leak and need to see into the cistern

I have two close coupled cisterns and neither are held down by the flush buttons they just lift clear of the cistern. One I lift around 2 inches then slide sideways away fom the syphon arm frame.
And the other just lifts clear as the buttons have rods the push down on syphone buttons to flush.

Never come across one that's screwed down or held down by the flush button/s

Leaks on close coupled cisterns usually come from the donut washer that sits between the two units - Cistern & Pan.

You may see two wing nuts at the back of the pan - one each side pointing to the floor. Sometimes (quite often) you can fix a leak by tightening these wing nuts - they compress a metal plate onto the squidgy donut washer and form the seal...

Good luck...
