how do I remove a starter from a Ford 3930 tractor to get it tested?

Tractor only starts when jumped, battery is new. Ford 3930 model. Am having difficulty finding more than two bolts, and cannot remove the starter from the block to get it tested.

Just removed the starter. Use right length of extensions from bolt to front of fuel pump. Feed 9/16 socket and extensions to bolt. Unfasten. Now remove the easiest bolts facing the outside. Reverse to re-install. Be patient.....

If it starts with jumper leads the starter motor must be working. Check your battery connections are clean and tight, and earth connections also, as well as the leads and any other connections all the way to the starter motor.
This will cost nothing but a little time. You may be lucky and save the cost of repairing/replacing the starter.

Hi Mark
There is a third bolt behind the starter motor. If you get a socket the same sixe as the other two bolts and a long extension bar. Feed the socket between the starter solenoid (the bit at the top) and the engine until it engages with the bolt. Loosen, but have one of the easier bolts tightened when you do this, to make it easier. It is very difficult to get at this bolt and I have seen starters with only 2 bolts holding them on its that hard to get back into place. Good Luck
