how to fix my transporter van?

my van has no power when started from cold it is ok in 1st but2nd onwards very poor until van gets up to temperature then is ok

Are you using the correct oil grade for the engine?, and a clean oil filter? Is the gearbox oil nice and clean and correct grade.
I presume you have checked that brakes are not binding.
Are injectors clean?, not smoking?
