Mwv won't heat - timer turns off after 2 sec What's problem?

the Genius Sensor 1200w OTR
Timer set for 1 minute
the unit comes on for 1 sec, then clicks
then unit comes on for 1 sec, then clicks
" " " " " ", then clicks off entirely
and the timer is no longer displayed and clock is shown
