Glow worm 30CXI combination boiler showing fault code F1 and F4?

My boiler is showing fault code F1 - F4 so there is no hot water and no heating.

Please can you tell me what could be the cause.

It has been on alot due to the appalling weather, it is just 5 years old

F1 fault, disconnected outflow pipe and drained water, worked first time thaks

It's been bitterly cold here this month (lowest -15°c ) when our boiler developed the same F1 fault! The fan would run for a couple of seconds then cut out, run and cut out and so on. Also, while it was running there was a kind of gurgling sound coming from inside the unit.

After standing outside with the hair dryer on the overflow pipe for 20 minutes, there was a thunk as an icicle freed itself from inside the white plastic followed by water which had backed up behind it, and Voila! problem sorted.

Been running for a couple of days now, no problems.

Thanks for your help!

Hi. Just had the same problem. Disconnected the pipe lots of water and bingo fired back into life on a reset.

We have just had the same problem and after reading the suggestions above we thought we would try it and guess what... it worked horray. We have just had a baby and a freezing cold night would not have been ideal, definately got us out of a sticky situation.

Thank you so much.

Thank you for this post - i t helped massively.
We initially had a fault 22 code and the boiler was making a loud rumbling noise. I remembered that a friend had a similar problem a few weeks ago and promptly emptied a couple of kettles onto the external flue which momentarily rectified the problem but then it restarted with the F1 code I disconnected the pipe underneath the boiler and water came gushing out (got it to trouble with the wife!) but it has solved the problem and the boiler had now come back to life - thanks. Good job as British Gas couldn't come out til Wednesday and it's the coldest weather we've had in 20 years.

Fault F1 Gloworm flexicom 30 cx

Check white overflow pipe is not frozen
Disconnect from underside of boiler and allow to drain.

Ours is push fit and comes apart quite easily.
Shake out the ice and refit
Push reset button and restart

Works for us

Good luck

weve had the same problem, gas engineer told us to check the drain pipe from the boiler as it could have frozen.

It had! to get the boiler up and running again disconnect the white plastic pipe under the boiler and let it drain off as it will have backed up with water. leave this to drain open into a bucket or something the boiler should then fire up again. you might need to switch it off to reset it and you've got to clear the drain pipe of ice so get that kettle boiled.

it worked for us anyway hope that helps
