HI IAN THANKS FOR ANSWERING MY CONDENSATE PIPE IS NEAR THE ROOF BUT I CAN REACH IT THRU MY BARHROOM WINDOW. IS IT SAFE TO CUT IT I LIVE ON ME OWN WITH MY BABY AND JUST NEED TO KNOW ITS SAFE TO CUT IT DONT KNOW NOTHING ABOUT BOILERS

dont forget you need to rejoin condensate pipe back together when weather improves

can i also say thanks for this brilliant site too.
we have tried everything all day, hot water, wheat bags, etc, worried about cutting pipes, just sawed the external pipe and got to the condensate pipe and heated it with a hairdrier it worked, thanks could not afford a repair man, we too now have heat.

as long as it's outside it's perfectly safe to cut it, try to cut it as close to where it sticks out of the wall as possible, leaving a couple of inches so it can be glued back together easily. that's what i've been doing for the last couple of weeks as a temporary fix for customers until the temperature rises again. just be careful leaning out of the window.
