Mira 88 mixer shower control knob?

How can I take out the control knob on Mira 88 mixer shower. It is just rotating and not closing the tap/valve so can not stop the water.

Any suggestions please.

lever out the small central insert with a small screwdriver then undo the screw and remove the knob and use a pliers or vise grip to turn the spindle to off
