how can i free the tape without damage

Remove cover, turn motor manually until you hear the catch release, the door to the cassette holder should be able to be opened and the tape extracted. (This answer works on a Teac DC-D4800 digital hi-fi system and may work on other models of the same type regardless of manufacturer).

if tape becomes damaged, splice it and re-record it onto a brand new tape
