Hi Chris,
I have managed to change my screen on my s6500fd.
Remove all the screws in the body.
Remove batteries and card.
Ease open the two parts of body.
View finder will come loose and two electrodes straps will still connect the two parts of the body (if not unplugged in the process).
Remove the black and silver screws on the LCD and remove the damaged item and replace in the same sequence.
Plug in the new item into female part, make sure it fits all the way up to the side collars, (I used a small flat screwdriver to made sure it went all the way home.)
Make sure the with electrode is connected.
Fit the body and batteries and card and make sure the camera is working before replacing the body screws.
If all else fails, take it to the pro's!
