I have an Ideal Standard toilet but it has a central flush at the top of the cistern. I cannot get the top off to fix the flush which is broken as it seems to be internally attached to the flush mechanism.
HOW CAN I GET THE TOP OFF MY TOLET?

I had the same problem. If you push down the central button and twist, pushing out with your thumbs from the middle 'space', it might come off. If not, push it down again and you will see two holes in the metal set opposite each other. Use a tool to hook into these holes and twist it off. Hope that helps.
