can a creda storage heater be mended?

I have checked the live input and output supply to the heater they are coming on in the 7 hr slot. The heater is not working at all is there an internal fuse and is it safe to take apart after isolating supply? I thought the bricks where asbestos?

I agree totally with OldHenrys advice, however, when you have the front panel off, before doing anything else, check to see if there is a thermal cut out in the heater, sometimes they are above the heater blocks, sometimes below. It is possible that it may be as simple as pressing the reset button.

There is a wire element runing through the 'bricks' in the heater. It is very simple to mend, if you are capable of taking it apart. It will have insulation in - fibre glass which itches. You will need a need a new element, probably obtianed through Web. You need the part number. But disconnect first , of course, and follow polarity.Always connect earth wires properly and tighten terminals. If it is very old, a new one will be more eficient
