How can I fix a tv that won't turn on?

My apartment had a blown fuse sometime Sunday morning. After the circuit was switched everything else came back on except the tv. It will not come on if I push the power on the tv or on the remote. I have even tried unplugging and re-plugging and plugging into a different outlet and nothing seems to work. Is there anything that I can do without having to take it to a repair shop?

The problem may only be down to the internal so called anti surge fuse having gone o/c (blown fuse due to excessive current).

Firstly, I'd check the mains socket on the wall. Plug in something small like a radio/hairdryer to make sure the socket is working ok. If not, wheck the fuse box...you might have blown a fuse there. If it's not there...pass...you might need to call an electrician.

If alls ok with the mains socket, then have you replaced the fuse in the plug for the TV ? Sounds sillly, but sometimes the most obvious things we overlook.

If the fuse in the plug is ok, then you might have to unscrew the plastic back off the TV and look round (usually near the power unit transformer) for some fuses. It's possible one ight have blown.

I did this on my old Toshiba 21" TV and it was a bluwn fuse in the TV. Cost me £2 for a new fuse (from any good electronics shop).

Hope this helps.
