The transformer of the primary main control board has failed open-circuit, seems like a common failure, and it has a very odd 9v:9v:10v secondary so I cannot find a replacement. I can purchase a version 9 printed circuit board, without the "new" orange enclosure. However, will this new board fit in the old black enclosure? It looks like it would as the output sockets are all in the same place.
Does anyone know if you can get a replacement transformer for the old board?

best bet is to buy a new boiler and make sure it's not an ideal.designed to break down i think
