Be careful if you're thinking of winding up the tension on these springs. They store an immense amount of power.
Whilst it's true that springs can relax over time, I suggest that if the door isn't opening properly it will be something else which is creating too much drag/friction on the mechanism or hinges perhaps?
Give it a good greasing!
