How can I fix the screech our Maytag Performa2300 washer makes?

Our couple year-old Maytag Performa 2300 (PAV2300AWW) washer screeches when any spinning cycle stops. It sounds like the metal to metal sound a car's worn out brakes make. Does the tub have a braking system that may need attention?

yes the tub does have a break on it our whirlpool does that and it is brand new
