damp and mould musty smells in loft?

I HAVE JUST DISCOVERED THAT ITEMS STORED IN THE LOFT ARE APPEARING TO HAVE A SMALL COVERING OF MOULD. A MUSTY SMELL IS APPARENT. IT IS QUITE COLD IN THE LOFT ASWELL. WHAT CAN I DO TO SOLVE THIS?

Cold in the loft is good - you need more ventilation - warm wet air from the house is entering your loft. Sometimes insulation is taken right up to the edges - the eaves - there should be a gap to allow the through movement of air. Sometimes warm air from the bathroom enters via the loft hatch - if it gets trapped in the loft and there's not enough ventilation you'll get mould.

Good luck...
