BEKO wma 642 washing machine is not heating the water?

Our Beko WMA 642 washing machine doesnt appear to be heating the water. Does this mean that the heating element needs to be replaced and is this something I can do myself?

Thanks that's interesting. Had a lot of problems with powder staining clothes myself. Still trying to get to the bottom of that one. Take back cover off and use multimeter on the heating element like the man says below. If broke you won't get a reading. Recommend taking the top off with the plug out also and checking all plugs are secure on the module and especially the programme selector which can fall open and cause an open circuit with the vibration. Mine did.

How do you know the water isn't being heated ? Are you getting your washing out and the powder has stained the clothes and looks as if it hasn't melted. or is it because your machine won't start to wash and then just sits there filled with water ?

Could well be a heater open circuit.they are easy to change.held in to the drum with one 10mm nut.you really need a multimeter to test the resistance across the heater terminals.Should be around 20-30 ohms from memory
