Kohlangaz k2?

I have installed in my home a Kohlangaz K2 gas fire. Unfortunately the pilot light will not stay on. I've checked the output voltage of the thermocouple and found it to be approx 7.8 mVolts. Is this indicating that the thermocouple is OK and the fault is elsewhere. If so, do you have any suggestions as to what might be at fault with the gas fire.

We have a K2 and I find I need to clean the pilot light nozzle fairly often to maintain the size of the pilot flame to enable the thermocouple to work. Its frustrating but once cleaned I find the pilot does keep lit - providing the flame is reaching and surrounding the thermocouple.
