vcr plays but no sound?

My vcr goodmans vn9500s will play tapes but were getting no sound even on pre-recorded tapes anyone any idea what could be wrong.Thanks.

Ian Major is wrong. As I have just recently found out, the video head could be dirty. A cleaner does not supply suffient pressure not cleaning it out. So yes, that means that you will have to unplug it and look inside. I cannot give you as description on what it looks like, as I could not find it myself. (Lol)

One simple check. Is the Scart Lead (assuming you are using a Scart Lead) pushed in properly?

It is possible to see only pictures if the lead is not home fully. (I've been caught out by this because you tend to assume that if you can see pictures the lead must be in and working properly.)
