Hotpoint Mistral ff72 - fridge temparture is showing 18 degrees?

I have a problem with the fridge tempature on my Hotpoint Mistral FF72 Frost Free Fridge Freezer.
The tempature is showing 18 degrees, however the manual says it should be between 2 and 6 degrees. I have tried to reset the tempature but it does not work and the fridge compartment is not very cold as it used to be. I think it is only cold as the freezer compartment is working fine and that is showing a constant -22 degrees.

I have ensured the grille at the front is free from any dust but other than that I am at a loss. The door closes fine and there are no cuts in any of the seals. There does not appear to be any air coming from inside the fridge (the air vents near the light and that) so it might be a fan issue or something but I need guidance on how to change that if possible.

Any ideas before I go buying a new one as I am not enjoying my warm beer and with the World Cup coming up this is not good?

Many thanks for any help.

Unfortunately in this instance the defrosting method did not work.
As such I will try the other suggestions.

Thanks

Thanks for your suggestions Phil & Steve.

I am going to try Steve's suggestion about defrosting first as that is obviously the least hassle. Having taken the trays out etc.. I have to say there is more frost than what I would have expected for a frost free fridge. As such I will let you know how I get on soon.

Cheers

Pete

Further to the last, mine did show an error code, which I researched to get this answer. Yours may not have the same display and the last chap seems to know what he is talking about. Phil

I have the same problem. After spending half a day on here, I came up with what I think is the solution and have ordered a part, namely the evaporator fan thermostat. I will let you know if this solves it. Thanks. Phil (email is hastainp@aol.com)

Your fridge/freezer is frozen up, now I know what you are going to say "but its a frost free model" trust me I work with these all the time, it has an ice blockage in the evaporator which is housed inside the freezer part behind a panel. To cure it leave the unit switched off for at least twelve hours at room temperature with the doors wide open and then switch on and it should work but it might happen again after a few weeks if it has got a fault with the defrost timer or heater.
