Problems with Sat Nav?

I have a 2002 Honda CRV which is giving me a problem with the sat nav I can program in a journey the sat nav starts to direct us then it gets itself stuck and we have to stop and restart the unit to get it to work. Any suggestions will cleaning be the answer?
