How come on this Ravenheat website it states British Gas quotes 'service for your Ravenheat boiler from British Gas' when I called British Gas out to replace the PCB board on my Ravenheat boiler the engineer told me at my house they did not and could not repair a Ravenheat boiler they could not garantee the work even if they could get the part. This was confirmed when i called their customer service dept.This is very misleading

The PCB commonly fails often giving one of the following symptoms:
Fuse on PCB blown - boiler does nothing.
Pump runs but fan not running or erratic.
Pump and fan run but gas valve doesn't open (but check air pressure switch).
Pump, fan & gas valve operate but no spark ignition.
Boiler lights but shuts down after a few seconds because it doesn't detect flame (but check electrode leads and condensate trap if conncted).

find the gas council number or g c number on the data plate on your boiler. sometimes you have to take the case off to find this, its usually 100 mm long by 50 mm high and willl have varoius detail about the boiler it could be a sticker or a ally plate, if you can phone a central heating spares stockist with this number they will tell you without doubt if it is available, in this instance only a british gas repair only for 192 pounds is good value, be ready for a horrible engineer who will turn up without a spare part, even if you tell the call centre all about your boiler and its fault, then he will rebook , turn up late , and probably take a third visit to fix it and try and push a service contract on the way. this is why british gas will never crush the independant heating traders and companies and get a monopoly on the industry as they have tried to

The statement on Ravenheat's web site does not accurately reflect the current arrangement they have with British Gas - it happens. Or - there are no spares avaliable for your particular boiler - it happens.

You might consider an alternative supplier from Yellow Pages.

No service company could guarantee a repair - it would be foolish for them to do so - the new part or another part may fail as soon as the engineer walks out of the door.

The nearest you might get to a guarantee is an annual service contract.

British Gas tend to be expensive and tend to up-sell -

"your boiler is obsolete - let us install a new one for you for £6000"

They might say...
