Washing machine element loose - can it be glued?

I have a Hotpoint Aquarius WF740 which is leaking - on inspection the heater element has become detached from the back of the drum. I presume it whas held with some kind of adhesive? - can it be reattached safely? and if so what kind od adhesive should I use?

check the nut in the middle of the heater element is not loose. this retains the heater in place
