re-covering g plan dining chairs?

How do I remove the backs from G Plan dining chairs. They appear to have been sprung into place as there is no obvious way to remove them from their slots. It seems unlikely the chairs were assembled with the upholstery on the backs.

If like mine
Not snapped in I've taken apart a chair not disimilar and the upholstered back is jointed either by biscuit joints or dowel joints in to the sides / leg sections built part by part usualll ending with the front legs fitted last so you can't take the back off without disassembling the chair.
