Why does lamp burn out?

My old GAF 2788 Z burns out lamps. I measure 120 volts in the lamp socket. Does the motor double as a transformer? The voltage for the lamp should be 30V.
Where can I get a motor if that is the problem?

measurement has to be taken during lamp is burning (under load condition). If not, you get wrong readings.
Under the assumption that correct bulb is fitted.
Both, volts and wattage of bulb must be machted!
