how do i stop noisy windscreen wipers?

I have just bought a bmw 5 series. The windscreen wipers make a noise against the windscreen when switched on. Somebody said applying olive oil will soften them. Any ideas ?

Hi Brian;

Either replce the wiper blade completely or if you know what you're doing, then the arm that the blade attaches to can be twisted slightly with a little force & will require two pairs of plyers.

I would imagine that the noise is only in one direction?

Buy some new ones they are finished,you can get them at TESCO and work just as well as expensive ones.
