Hi My Washing Machine keeps tripping the fuse box. I have disconnected the heater but it still trips. I have then disconnected the motor and the machine works. I then disconnected the earth wire from the motor, and the machine works fine. i checked the bushes in the motor and they are fine, what could be causing this to trip when earth wire is connected.

Try checking all the wires to make sure there are no bare wires touching the washing macine body, also check to make sure there hasnt been any small leeks. The other thing I can suggest is even though you have checked your brushes the carbon dust can also cause the problem you are having. Remove your Motor and take it to the petrol station and give it a good blow with the tire air pump......that should solve the problem. Carbon is conductive so its possible you are getting a live connection from your motor to the earth. Hope I have helped?
