Orange traction light stays on - 2.0 HDI Citroen Xsara Estate?

Hi Howtomendit,

Orange traction light stays on - 2.0 HDI Citroen Xsara Estate?
(2001 - Citroen Xsara 2.0 HDI Estate) (Diesel Turbo)

Hi Howtomendit Help,

Can you please help me as the traction light stays on after starting, then setting off, and also continuously after that.

It has also affected the central locking in the car too - I can't lock the car with the central locking button.
Even when turning the lock manually it won't lock the car.

Although, funnily enough - I can open the boot hatch.

I had it put on a diagnostic machine by a local mechanic and he managed to get the "Orange Traction Light" to go off. He was able to lock the car manually when the light went off.

After about half a mile down the road the orange light came back on again.
The mechanic had told me - that might happen.

Can you please tell me is this a serious fault?

Would the locking be on the same circuit as the traction?

What is best the solution?

Many Thanks,
Brian, March 2010
